A Life Saved, Now Saving Lives

Emily’s story is one of transformation, resilience, and purpose. She was once one of twelve orphaned and abandoned children surviving in a rundown house in a dangerous part of Mombasa. The place had no electricity or running water. Each child owned nothing more than a cardboard box to hold their clothes and a few small toys. That was their life—fragile, uncertain, and far from safe.

But in 2003, Emily’s life began to change.
She arrived at Tumaini Children’s Home, where she finally found security, care, and belonging. For the first time, she had people to call Mum and Dad, a proper bed to sleep in, and a school where she could learn and thrive. And she did. Emily flourished, proving to be a bright and hardworking student who made the most of every opportunity.

After high school, Emily pursued her dream of becoming a nurse. She was accepted into the Presbyterian University of East Africa, where she trained with dedication and passion. In 2016, she graduated—ready to serve others, just as she had once been served.

Today, Emily works in a hospital in Mombasa, specializing in pediatrics. She brings healing, comfort, and professionalism to every child under her care. Whether she’s adjusting medical equipment or gently comforting a patient, Emily radiates compassion and confidence.

Her journey—from a cardboard box in a dangerous neighborhood to a trusted pediatric nurse—is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a child is given hope, love, and opportunity.
At Education for Life , we believe in restoration. Emily is living proof. And as she gives back to her community, she carries with her the heart of the home that once gave her a second chance.

We are proud of Emily. And we are grateful to every sponsor, supporter, and prayer partner who continues to walk with us in building lives and futures.
