Our Story
Glyn and Jane
Glyn (A Training and Compliance Officer) met Jane (An office clerk) while working at a bank, married in 1997, and during their honeymoon in Mombasa, were deeply impacted by the hardships faced by local children. Words that stuck in their minds were:
“Can your Jesus feed me?”
In 1999, they founded Education for Life and, by 2000, fully committed to showing Jesus’ love through care for overlooked children. Glyn and Jane are committed to demonstrating a different kind of lifestyle within the whole community—living in love with God and in unity with one another.
Maureen
Maureen is a long-standing volunteer and the vital coordinator of our UK office. She has been part of Education for Life since its very beginning and officially stepped into a full-time role in January 2003. Her dedication and commitment have been a constant source of strength to the entire organization.
Affectionately known as a “walking archive,” Maureen holds a wealth of knowledge about Education for Life’s history, sponsors, and children. Whether it’s a question about a past event, a child’s story, or donor details, Maureen is often the first — and most accurate — source of information.
Each year, she spends around two months in the field in Mombasa, building personal relationships with the children and staff. For many of our sponsors, Maureen has been a friendly voice on the phone or a reassuring name in an email.
Marianne
Marianne serves as the volunteer coordinator and administrator for Education for Life Society Canada, based in Edmonton, Alberta.
In 2015, as she was transitioning out of full-time ministry, Marianne felt a strong desire to remain engaged in meaningful, global ministry work. Around the same time, Glyn and Jane were exploring ways to expand the support base for Education for Life from within Canada. Their paths aligned perfectly, and through shared vision and commitment, they successfully brought together a group of passionate supporters to establish Education for Life Society Canada.
Today, Marianne plays a key role in the organization. She communicates regularly with donors, manages fundraising initiatives, and offers unwavering support for the work being done on the ground in Mombasa. Her dedication ensures that the mission of Education for Life continues to grow and thrive, both locally and globally.
