Digital Learning Initiative

Transforming education through innovative technology

At Tumaini School, we believe every child deserves access to quality education — and in today’s world, that includes access to technology. With the introduction of Kenya’s Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), digital literacy has become a core part of learning. Students are encouraged to think critically, solve problems, and apply practical knowledge — all of which are enhanced through technology.

Currently, over 460 students at Tumaini share a small collection of outdated computers. Our lab consists of about 10 devices — some desktops, some laptops — most needing external monitors to function. In such conditions, hands-on learning is limited, and students often share screens and keyboards, hindering personal exploration and growth.

We aim to provide a laptop for every learner. Laptops offer flexibility and portability, perfectly supporting the CBC’s practical learning approach. This initiative will help bridge the digital divide, giving each child the tools to learn independently, keep up with curriculum demands, and prepare for a tech-driven future. We are proud to work with Overdrive Consultants (K) Ltd, a local supplier that handles both the supply and maintenance of the laptops. Buying locally not only ensures faster support but also helps grow the local economy.

Thanks to the support of kind donors, some students have already received their own laptops. These devices have opened new doors to learning, creativity, and confidence.

Each laptop costs approximately £280 or $500 CAD. Whether you’re an individual donor, an organization, or a long-term partner, your contribution will directly impact a learner’s future.
