Tumaini loves visitors and we’ve had some special ones this year! The first team came from Sleaford in Lincolnshire. Soon feeling at home, and it’s a good job too, as it was the last week of term; the team were involved in lessons in nursery, primary and high school. We’re really grateful for the advice they gave and especially for their input into the children and young people.

Glen was a great inspiration to our Physics students and donated a prize for the highest achieving student in Physics from each high school class, this will be awarded in the first week of term. (I think there will be a lot of people wishing they had worked harder!)

Loads of fun was had during the  two weeks of their visit – we had dancing in the nursery for two sessions a day, dancing for young people in the evenings and the highlight for ladies was having their nails painted with pretty designs.

Thank you Diane, Anna, Katie, Glen, Julie, Zoe and Molly – you made a lot of people feel very special! Xx Glyn & Janey

It was certainly a day to remember for the Tumaini Primary Choir and 5 members of staff. After the initial disappointment of not being able to attend the National Music Festival our Choir soon found their voice again when our first school trip to Tsavo East National Park was arranged.

We managed to hire a 50 seater coach and left Tumaini very early so that we could arrive at Tsavo East before lunch, with Austin as the safari guide, the coach set off in search of animals.

As it was the first visit to a game reserve for most of our staff and students, there was a lot of excitement when they spotted the first elephant. It would take too long to list all the animals spotted but the favourites seemed to be the elephants and giraffes.

Thanks for checking in on us, next week should bring more interesting stories.

Well it’s been a long time since we had an update so here goes with some amazing news! After a very generous donation we have been able to start building again. We started two weeks ago and it’s only now that I’ve been able to sit down to give you this update. Most of the rooms are now at the correct height ready for setting the first floor slab. It’s exciting to see the building take shape and the archway looks amazing, if a little dangerous in it’s setting out!

As well as the building going up at a good rate we have been busy organising the last week of the school term and getting ready for Holiday Club, more updates on that to follow later in the week.

Thanks for your patience, please visit our site now for weekly updates on many different events.
