It’s Friday again, thanks for checking in on our progress.

We have literally had a smashing week, fortunately it was just the rocks that got a bashing! We are in the final stages of preparing the foundations and have carried an enormous amount of hard core on to the site.

The rocks are then smashed, by hand, to make them fit before being covered in sand and watered to help with compacting! It’s a little like dry stone walling, with a difference!

Our ring beam is coming along nicely and should be completed by the middle of next week, ready for a dawn to dusk concreting day to lay the foundation slab.

Would you like to be involved in this project? We really need your support to ensure the builders can continue uninterrupted.

Have a great weekend, Xx Glyn & Jane

Despite the rain which has pounded us all week, we have made good progress.

You can start to see the shape of the building and individual rooms. We have had around 40 men working this week, it’s been busy but progress is good.

Hopefully by the end of next week we should be in a position to set out the steel reinforcement for the foundation slab and then the building will really start to take shape.

The foundations are not only a time consuming part of any project but also a costly but essential part of the project. With the funds we have raised so far we should be able to get the foundation slab complete.

Thanks again for checking in on us.

Well not quite but it’s getting the job done! We have had a very busy week on the foundations, the steel fitters finished the bases and columns just in time for the pre-arranged inspection from the Municipal Council’s Building Inspector, who gave us a clean bill of health.

It was then all hands to the pump! The concrete was mixed (by hand) and bucketed into place. Hopefully by the end of today we should have half of the footings completed.

Our guys have been working really hard in soaring temperatures to push the job on, the rains are on the way and we need to get the footings in before the rain washes all our digging back into the holes! It’s great to see some of our students who graduated last year getting involved; there are even a couple of existing students who are helping out in the holidays.

Thanks for checking in on our progress. Xx Glyn & Jane

Happy Easter, we hope you have a truly blessed time this season.

We have had a busy four days digging foundations, the ground is very soft so we are having to dig deep! It’s amazing to see the different soils types as we excavate, it’s varying from a rich dark soil to pure white sand. Today we had the reinforcing steel delivered to site and we have steel fitters busy cutting and twisting making the frames for our bases and columns.

Next week we hope to be able to concrete some of the bases and backfill, we will then be able to see the building take shape.

Thanks for your support, please check back weekly to see how the project is moving forward. Xx Glyn & Jane
