It’s been a couple of weeks now since I’ve managed to get an update to you, but it’s worth waiting for! We have just had our school results for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams that we sat last November and our overall marks improved dramatically on last year; so much that we finished 3rd in our district. Well done to students and staff, your hard work really paid off.
We have managed to restart the Half Way House Project – thanks to Calvary Community Church in Canada and St Luke’s Church in Nottingham. The team from Canada not only helped us to restart with an injection of cash but they also threw themselves wholeheartedly into the project, there was a bit of competition as to who could mix the most cement and plaster walls the fastest. It was a close run contest between the Canadians and the Kenyans! I think the final score was a draw, so it looks like there will have to be a re-match, sorry guys you will have to come back!
Most of the rooms are now plastered and painted. This week we started on the outer finish called “Rough Cast” a mix of sand, cement and paint, which is applied with a great hand held machine that chucks it at the wall!
Thanks for checking in on us, have a great weekend. Xx Glyn & Jane
